When launched in 1999, the national teenage pregnancy strategy outlined four areas for action:

  • New mechanisms to co-ordinate action at local and national levels
  • Better prevention of the causes of pregnancy
  • Better support for pregnant teenagers and teenage parents

Budget of £24 million in 2003/2004.

An evaluation of the teenage pregnancy strategy was published in 2005.
