Aimed to provide 39 local authorities with money to launch 58 rural transport schemes across England to tackle social isolation.

Budget of £200 million for new or improved rural bus services across England over the period 2001/02 to 2003/04 and £50 million for 2004/05.

In 2003, the programme was integrated into the Local Transport Plan (LTP) process.
