By 2004, 85% of 11-year-olds to be at Level 4 at key stage 2 in English and Maths. 2,300 summer schools operative by 2000, of which 1,800 were devoted to literacy and numeracy. A budget of £240 million over 3 years (+ £16m for summer schools). The Primary National Strategy takes the literacy and numeracy strategies under its umbrella, extending the support given to literacy and numeracy to other subjects. |
