A variety of targets including:

(1) By March 2002, to reduce the backlog of council house repairs by at least 250,000 with more than 1½ million council houses benefiting from the new investment by March 2002.

(2) To reduce the number of people sleeping rough by two-thirds from current levels by 2002 (achieved).

An overall budgetary allocation of £2.65 billion in 2001/02 and £2.55 billion in 2002/03.

From 2002/03, HIP became part of the Single Capital Pot process whereby the bulk of capital resources are allocated to local authorities through a cross service Basic Credit Approval.
