No home contents insurance
Key points
- Half of the poorest households are uninsured. This compares to one in five for households on average incomes and less than one in ten of those in the richest fifth.
- There is little difference in the risk of burglary by income group (see the crime indicator), so the fact that more people in the higher income brackets have home contents insurance reflects their ability to purchase it rather than their greater need for it.
